Brows- FAQ's

I’ve never had my brows tinted. How will I know if it’s suitable for me?

Eyebrow tinting is a fantastic treatment which can make a dramatic difference to most people’s faces. It is suitable for almost everyone, although a patch test is necessary a minimum of 24 hours before your first tinting treatment with us.

Will tinting make my brows look very dark?

Before your treatment begins, we will assess your skin and hair colour and discuss with you your desired end result in terms of how you would like your brows to look, before deciding which shade of tint would be best for you.

Is eyebrow tinting permanent?

No, lash and brow tinting are semi-permanent solutions whose results will last for around 3 weeks. Every time you wash your face or use make-up remover on it, a little bit of the tint will be removed.

To get the longest-lasting results we recommend that you go a shade or two darker with your brow tint than you would ideally like. Otherwise, you may found that the tint fades more quickly than you first imagined.

Which treatments do I need a patch test for?

You need a patch test for all tinting treatments (e.g. lash and brow tinting) and HD Brows. You also need a patch test for certain lash treatments like semi-permanent lash extensions. You must have your patch test at least 24 hours before your appointment

I’ve had a patch test elsewhere. Do I still need one at BeYOUtifi?

Yes, even if you’ve had a patch test and tinting treatments in the past at other salons, you will still need a patch test at least 24 hours before all first-time tinting and HD Brow treatments at BeYOUtifi.

Do I need to book a patch test in advance or can I just walk in?

We recommend that you get your patch test at least 24 hrs prior to your appointment but you can get a patch test without an appointment

The HD Brows treatment takes around 45 minutes but we would suggest allowing around an hour for the treatment.

How long do HD Brows last?

The effects of the treatment usually last around 4-6, however this can vary depending on your hair growth. After your first few treatments your stylist will be able to recommend how often you should be having the treatment done.

Lashes - FAQ's

So what exactly are eyelash extensions

Haven’t you heard? Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are a year-round ‘must have’ for all you lovely ladies. Lash extensions draw more attention to your eyes than mascara alone, so you’ll look fab when you wake up, after the gym, at work, on the beach and even a night of cocktails. Lash extensions are applied directly to the natural eyelashes, one at a time. Available in many varieties, including various lengths, thicknesses, curvatures and colours, there are endless options for design. The result is a long-lasting and natural-looking extension of your natural beauty.

How long will my extensions last?

With proper care, your extensions will last 4-5 weeks. You should expect to shed most of them throughout the growth cycle of your natural lashes. We recommend coming by for infills when your extensions begin to look sparse. Please be aware,by there nature lash extensions are very delicate – so give them the TLC they deserve! Exposure to steam or extremely hot water, and touching, picking, or rubbing your lashes can weaken the adhesive bond on your extensions.

How should I expect my extensions to feel?

You should not feel any pain or discomfort in or around your eyes after the procedure. To the untrained eye, no one will know you’re cheating on your natural lashes. And your secret is safe with us! Gone are the days of mascara clumps… Your lashes will be clean, separated, and as close to perfect as we can make them.

How long does it take?

We’re perfectionists here at BeYOUtifi. You can expect us to be meticulous, concentrated and precise. From design through application, the process will last anything from 90 minutes to 2 hours… remember everyone is different.

My lashes are a bit sparse, will that be a problem?

Most clients are good candidates for lash extensions, no matter what their concerns. However, the style our artists will help you create may vary depending on your natural lashes. If you’re really concerned, call in for a chat and we can discuss a design that best suits your lashes.

Do I need to prep my lashes before I come in?

Yes, please! Make sure your eyelashes are squeaky clean – no traces of eye makeup – prior to your appointment. Use an oil-free make up remover if possible, and rinse well.

Are eyelash extensions for me?

Your eyes are free of signs and symptoms of infection and fully recovered from recent eye surgery or procedures

You do not have any allergies/sensitivities to acrylates or cyanoacrylate adhesives

You are comfortably able to lie down with your eyes closed for a few hours

During the first 24 hours you will need to avoid:

Exposing your eyelash extensions to water, heat, sauna, steam and friction?

Applying eye cosmetics or skin care products to your eyelashes or eyelids?

Receiving eye area treatments, such as chemical peels, skin-resurfacing procedures, eyebrow waxing, lasers, eye surgeries etc

What are Russian Volume and what makes them different to strip or party lashes?

Russian Volume and Classic Volume differ from party lashes in a few important ways. Classic extensions are applied individually to each one of your own lashes and Russians are applied as a fan of between 2-6 lashes, depending on the look and fullness you want. In the case of Russians a BeYOUtifi technician makes the fan herself from the individual lash extensions and, unlike party Lashes, they are not pre-glued in clusters – they are individually applied to each of your lashes. The fact that they are not pre-glued makes Classics and Russians much lighter and more comfortable to wear

Is working on my lashes painful?

Not at all, when properly applied, lash extensions should not be painful Extensions are applied to your natural lashes, not touching the skin, so you shouldn’t feel a thing. With your eyes closed, you may even find the treatment so relaxing that you may even fall asleep, don’t worry it will be our little secret.

I've just had my lash extensions done at another salon, they look awful

Unfortunately we’ve rectified work by other salons many times, so it wont be a first for us, give us a call and we’ll get you sorted asap.

Will I still need my mascara?

Most clients don’t find it necessary to wear mascara with eyelash extensions. However, if you must wear mascara, we advise using a water-based formula only,  oil based products can dissolve the bonding agent used on your extensions, causing the lashes fall out sooner.

What about different lash brands?

While the quality of the lash product is important by far the most important factor with lash extensions is the skill of your technician, not the brand of the lashes themselves.

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?

Avoid contact with water or steam for 24-48 hours after your appointment to allow the glue to cure. The longer you wait, the better! If you must shower, clean around your eyes and avoid getting water onto your lashes.

Avoid exposing your lashes to prolonged heat, as this can weaken the bond and cause your extensions to fall off. No steam rooms or saunas

Only run a lash wand or brush through your extensions gently. If they are getting a little unruly, you may also separate and tidy your lashes using a toothpick, ideally after a shower.

Avoid using oil-based products around your eyes.

Waxing - FAQ's

How long, or short, should my hair be for waxing?

The hair should be at least 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch for best results. If you have coarse hair it should be closer to 1/2-inch for the first few waxes. Once the hair becomes finer it can be waxed at a shorter length. If your hair is longer, we recommend shaving the area and booking your waxing appointment for two to three weeks later.

How often should I get my waxing treatment?

Every four to five weeks. Regular waxing is essential. The skin will be less sensitive if waxing is done regularly. Over time the hair follicle will have less and less of a grip on the hair to be pulled and the hairs will come out more easily.

.

Will I get ingrown hairs?

It is possible, waxing removes the entire hair, root and all, from the follicle. Your skin naturally hardens and thickens over the area that was waxed so it is important to keep that area gently exfoliated. Use a gentle scrub in that area about 2 days after waxing and continue to exfoliate 1 to 2 times a week thereafter. Also, use a mixture of tea tree and lavender oil. Both are antimicrobial and antibacterial and will prevent irritation.

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

If possible try and avoid the following for the first 24-48 :

  • Use of exfoliating products (Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA) products, loofahs, scrubs, etc.)
  • Direct sun exposure and tanning beds
  • Creams with fragrance or ingredients that may irritate
  • Deodorant: it results in irritation and clogging of open follicles
  • Wearing tight clothing: results in irritation and inflammation
  • Excessive heat, such as that from hot tubs and saunas. Warm showers are okay.
  • Exercise, if it may cause chaffing or sweating
  • Touching the freshly waxed area: this encourages irritation

Can I shave between waxing appointments?

No. Please do not shave between waxing appointments! It disrupts the hair growth cycle resulting in more hair at your next appointment.

What is a Hollywood or Brazilian wax?

A Brazilian wax is the removal of most hair growth, leaving only a central strip untouched. A Hollywood waxing treatment removes ALL hair growth in the Bikini area.

What is Strip Waxing?

Strip wax is thinly spread over the desired area. A paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off with a quick movement. This removes the wax along with the hair, roots and dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth and exfoliated.

How long before I see the benefits?

It may take up to three waxing treatments to achieve smooth skin due to the fact that hair grows in stages and all of your hair is never at the same stage. It is very important to avoid shaving between waxing appointments, as this will interrupt the process and stimulate the hair growth again. So if you’re going on holiday and want to be hair free while you’re away you need to plan your waxing treatments now, for the best results.

Is there anything I should do before my waxing appointment?

It would be great if you would not take  a shower or bath immediately before the treatment. Soaking the hair will soften it, allowing it to break more easily and making waxing less effective.

  • Make sure the hair is the appropriate length for waxing.
  • Make sure that the area(s) to be waxed are clean.
  • There are certain medications and products that should not be taken or used if you plan to have a waxing treatment soon. Topical exfoliants used on the area to be waxed such as Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone, oral acne medications such as Accutane, blood-thinning medications, and topical/oral cortisone make the skin more sensitive and increase the likelihood of irritation or other complications.

Please check with your doctor if you are unsure whether you should be waxed while on or using a medication.

What should I expect after my first eyebrow waxing?

As you would expect everyone’s skin reacts slightly differently but you can expect to have temporary redness and minor irritation for a day or two. Slight itchiness may be experienced as the hair grows out. Proper post-wax care will alleviate these symptoms quickly. If you’re a bride, attending a special occasion or going on holiday, I recommend receiving waxing services a month before your special day or departure to see how your skin reacts. If everything is fine, reschedule another wax a few days before.

How do I benefit from waxing?

Waxing reduces hair growth when performed at every four to five weeks. While shaving crops the hair at the skin’s surface, waxing pulls it out by the root, so it grows back softer, finer, and thinner. Waxing is great for those who are tired of the hassle of shaving several times per week. The more you wax, the less hair grows back.

Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker/stronger/darker?

Absolutely not. Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you become a regular waxer, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as coarse. When hair is shaved, it is cut off at the thick part of the hair, which is why you can feel stubble the next day. A properly waxed hair is removed from the root, and when the hair starts to grow back it is a new hair, very fine at the tip, so no stubble.

What is Hot or Hard Waxing?

Wax is directly applied to the skin. It hardens when it cooled, allowing the easy removal by the therapist without the aid of strips. This waxing method is very beneficial to people who have sensitive skin as it does not remove or grip the skin. For sensitive areas around the Bikini, it is best to use hot wax as pain is greatly reduced and tearing of the delicate skin is unlikely.

Tanning - FAQ's

What does the BeYOUtifi spray tan consist of?

The BeYOUtifi spraytan is done completely by hand, ensuring each client gets a glamorous and even glow from top to bottom, in the shade of your choice , we’ll provide the necessary disposables but please feel free to bring your own.

How soon can I shower after my tan?

It will take about 8 hours for the tanning process to fully develop. We always recommend not to shower or swim during that period.

How does fake tan work?

Fake tan contains a chemical called DHA, which reacts with the air and the amino acids in the top layer of the skin, causing it to gradually darken. Only the uppermost skin cells are affected.

How long does a spray tan take?

It takes just 15 minutes for a top to toe spray tan! It’s super quick and hassle free. Pop on some loose clothing to avoid creating any marks on the skin, wait for the colour to develop and wash the solution off in the shower.

Do I need to make an appointment?

To be absolutely sure we strongly suggest making an appointment, if that’s not possible its highly recommended that you phone in advance as we cannot guarantee having the required time slot available.

How long does a spray tan last?

The BeYOUtifi tan typically last anywhere from 5-7 days depending on how it is taken care of. We recommend oil-free body products and little to no exfoliation, including shaving.

Will spray tans stain my clothes?

No avoiding it at times, we suggest coming in dark clothes but we know that is not always an option. Some superficial colour may rub off on your clothes before you shower, but it will wash right out.

Is spray tanning safe?

Yes, it is completely safe! DHA is non-toxic and the skin darkening reaction is confined to the top later of the skin only – nothing is absorbed into the body. This is highlighted in the way that a fake tan fades away slowly as the skin cells undergo their natural regeneration process and flake off the body.

How should I prepare for my spraytan?

Remove any unwanted hair a couple of days before your appointment This is especially important if you tend to wax your legs and underarms because it gives time for your open pores to close up. If tan is applied immediately after a wax it can lead to a spotty finish and possible streaks. Be sure to moisturise as well in order to hydrate the top layer of skin cells that will react with the clever darkening ingredients in spray tan solution.

Does fake tan smell?

When fake tan was first created it did have a tell tale ‘biscuity’ smell. However, modern formulations are scented with sweet fragrances that are highly effective. Many of our products contain natural ingredients that rejuvenate the skin, improve elasticity and reduce the risk of developing cellulite. What more could you ask for?
